Apple’s “Surprise and shine” iPhone event is six days away, but reporting says only the Pro lineup and a foldable phone arrive this fall — the standard iPhone 18 is expected in spring 2027. Before April 1, 2027 leads at 80%, and Before March 1 sits at 20%.
You’re betting on when Apple releases the baseline iPhone 18 to the public — not when it announces the phone, and not when Pro or foldable models ship. Each date in the table is its own Yes/No bet — “did the standard iPhone 18 go on sale before this deadline?” — not a single race where only one date wins. So if Apple puts the baseline iPhone 18 on sale on March 20, 2027, Before April 1, 2027 and every later date in the ladder can pay Yes on that same release; Before March 1 pays No.
| Your bet | Chance | Wins if… | $100 bet pays |
|---|---|---|---|
| Before April 1, 2027 | 80% | Apple releases the baseline iPhone 18 before April 1, 2027 | ~$124 |
| Before March 1, 2027 | 20% | Apple releases the baseline iPhone 18 before March 1, 2027 | ~$494 |
| Before February 1, 2027 | 9% | Apple releases the baseline iPhone 18 before February 1, 2027 | ~$1,105 |
| Before January 1, 2027 | 6% | Apple releases the baseline iPhone 18 before January 1, 2027 | ~$1,660 |
| Before October 1, 2026 | 2% | Apple releases the baseline iPhone 18 before October 1, 2026 | ~$4,993 |
Release means the baseline iPhone 18 is available to buy from Apple or authorized retailers — not a keynote reveal alone. Kalshi’s rules exclude iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max, and other alternate models; only the standard iPhone 18 counts.
The case for Before April 1, 2027. Why Before April 1 sits at 80%: MacRumors and Forbes both report Apple is splitting the iPhone 18 generation — iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max, and a foldable phone in fall 2026, with the standard iPhone 18 held for spring 2027 alongside an iPhone 18e refresh. That schedule would miss Before October 2026 but land inside a March or April spring window. The precedent one year back runs the other way: Apple put the baseline iPhone 17 on sale September 19, 2025, one week after a September 9 keynote. This year’s reported split breaks that pattern on purpose. Kalshi’s own clarification says Pro releases do not count — so a packed September 9 “Surprise and shine” event can still leave this side open. That is the 80% case: traders are pricing a spring baseline ship, not a September one.
The case for Before March 1, 2027. Why Before March 1 still sits at 20%: that line needs the baseline phone in stores by the end of February 2027 — a tighter spring deadline. Apple’s only recent autumn miss was COVID-era iPhone 12, which reached stores October 23, 2020 while the Mini and Pro Max waited until November. A spring 2027 launch could still slip into late March and clear Before April 1 while failing Before March 1. Before February 2027 trades at 9%, so traders already treat a January or early-February street date as unlikely. That is the 20% case: spring is expected, but not necessarily early spring.
Before April 1, 2027 at 80% and Before March 1 at 20% means traders expect the baseline iPhone 18 in the first quarter of 2027 — not at next week’s Pro event.
Before October 1, 2026 sits near 2% even though that contract has drawn more than $3 million in lifetime volume — the heaviest traded rung on the board. Before January 2027 is 6%. Before February 2027 is 9%. Before March 2027 is 20%. Before April 2027 is 80%. The biggest step is March to April: traders are putting most of the spring probability in March, not April.

Grant the September event — then read which model Kalshi counts before you treat a fall iPhone headline as this board’s number.
September 9, 2026: Apple’s “Surprise and shine” keynote — which iPhone 18 models get a street date, and whether any baseline unit goes on sale before October 1. Spring 2027: an Apple event or press release putting the standard iPhone 18 on sale. Authorized retailer availability counts the same as Apple.com orders for resolution.
