How to look at each side

The case for the Los Angeles Rams. Los Angeles sits at 16% — double Seattle’s price — after a June trade that sent pass rusher Jared Verse and three draft picks to Cleveland for Myles Garrett, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year who set the single-season sack record with 23. Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford just won MVP. The Rams reached the NFC title game last winter and lost to Seattle; Super Bowl LXI will be played in their home stadium in Inglewood. That is the Rams case at 16%: a roster built to win this season, priced as the clearest favorite on a 32-team field.

The case for the Seattle Seahawks. Why Seattle still sits at 8%: the Seahawks are the defending champions after a 29–13 win over New England in Super Bowl LX on February 8, 2026, and they entered that season around 60-to-1. Eight percent is the classic preseason band where most eventual champions have lived historically — not a leftover scrap under a runaway favorite. Buffalo is tied with them at 8%, so the second rung is shared, but Seattle’s brief is the recent trophy and a defense already proven on the biggest stage. That is the Seahawks case at 8%: the only priced club that is already the defending champion.

What the odds are saying

Sixteen percent means traders see the Rams as the most likely champion — and still give about an 84% chance that someone else wins. Put the top of the field side by side. The Rams are at 16%. Seattle and Buffalo are at 8% each. Baltimore is at 7%, Kansas City at 6%. Those five names hold under half the market; more than half belongs to the other 27 clubs on a 32-team list.

A 16% favorite in a 32-team title market is a clear leader, not a lock.

3 reasons the Rams’ 16% chance can still move:

  1. Preseason favorites rarely finish the job. Of the 49 seasons with available preseason data from 1977 through 2025, the team with the shortest odds won the Super Bowl only six times — about 12%. Los Angeles at 16% sits above that long-run rate, so the favorite’s price can still fall if the season looks ordinary.
  2. Most champions enter priced in the middle. The most common preseason odds for eventual winners fall between +600 and +1200 — roughly 8% to 14%. Seattle’s 8% sits inside that band. Last year’s Seahawks entered around 60-to-1 and still won — so an 8% defending champion in that common band is this market’s recent story, not an exotic one.
  3. Hosting does not put them in the game. The Rams host Super Bowl LXI at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, but they still have to earn a playoff berth and win through the NFC bracket before February 14. A home title game only matters if they get there.
