How this market pays

You’re betting on which club wins the 2026 Major League Baseball championship — the World Series. Each team is its own side; only the eventual champion collects. Kalshi lists clubs in short form (Los Angeles D for the Dodgers, New York Y for the Yankees).

How to look at each side

The case for Los Angeles D. The Dodgers sit first on this board at 34%, more than twenty points clear of every other club. That gap is the case: Los Angeles has been the National League’s default October favorite for several seasons, with a payroll and farm system built to survive a long summer and still field a rotation in October. Traders are not waiting for September to crown them — the price has held in the low-to-mid 30s even while the regular season still has months left, and the day move (+1.5 percentage points) shows fresh money still prefers the Dodgers over a crowded chase pack. That is the Dodgers case at 34%: the deepest roster among clubs still playing meaningful baseball in July, priced as the team most likely to be left standing in November.

The case for New York Y. Why the Yankees still sit at 13%: New York is the top American League name on the ladder and the only club within shouting distance of a true second lane, even while trailing Los Angeles by more than twenty points. A Yankees path runs through winning the AL and then beating whichever National League survivor emerges — a two-step that keeps them priced above Milwaukee, Atlanta, and Seattle even when the Dodgers own the headline. Thirteen percent is not a co-favorite brief; it is the leftover AL championship case on a board that still treats Los Angeles as the October default. That is the Yankees case at 13%: the clearest American League ticket on a market that has already concentrated most of its World Series probability in one National League club.

What the odds are saying

Los Angeles at 34% and New York at 13% means traders see one primary October favorite and a second tier that is still a real lane, not a rounding error. Milwaukee at 9% and Atlanta at 7% sit just behind that second place — close enough that the Yankees’ edge is thin if an NL Central or East club catches fire after the trade deadline.

2 reasons the Dodgers’ 34% can still move:

  1. The deadline can remake a pursuer overnight. A club at 6–9% that adds a starter or bat in the next two weeks can reprice the gap under Los Angeles without the Dodgers playing a bad week.
  2. October is short. A favorite at one-in-three still loses most years; one rotation injury in a League Championship Series can hand the board to New York or Milwaukee faster than the regular-season gap implies.

The price looks about right for a true favorite in a thirty-team tournament: Los Angeles owns the clearest path, and everyone else is fighting over the remaining two-thirds of the probability.

What to watch

Trade deadline moves through the end of July, then September pennant races; the champion is decided in the World Series in October–November.
